Many people will know the name SJ Watson and his incredible debut novel 'Before I Go To Sleep' . Not only did this gain a lot of attention and several awards, but it was also worthy of being adapted into a film starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth. 'Before I Go To Sleep' is an amazing book being written so perfectly - every sentence leaves you wanting to know more and read the whole book in one sitting. SJ Watson's new book 'Second Life' is no exception either.

When I picked up this book I didn't know what to expect, as the description gave nothing away:

'She loves her husband
She's obsessed by a stranger.

She's a devoted mother.
She's prepared to lose everything.

She knows what she's doing.
She's out of control.

She's innocent.
She's guilty as sin.

She's living two lives.
She might lose both...'

From the very start of this book, Watson slowly lays hints about the main character, in turn making you just want to read this book to know all about her.
Obviously I don't want to give anything away but it starts off with Julia, the main character, finding out that her sister was murdered. She then makes it her personal mission to find out who killed her, as she feels the police aren't pushing their weight.

This book is written so perfectly that when you are engrossed in it and you hear the slightest noise/distraction you will get the biggest fright, because i certainly did!

This story completely escalates into something you would never ever think and takes a complete turn at the most unexpected points. It's the kind of book that when you finish it, you are so happy that you finally figured out who it is that committed the murder. As well as this, you're also shocked at the ending AND you're heart feeling broken due to finishing the book. It's just a roller coaster of emotions - thanks Watson...

I have recommended this book to everyone I have spoken to, even if you are not a massive reader, I would still recommend it for an easy read. If this book doesn't have an adaption into a film I will be pretty disappointed (unless the film is terrible, then I would be even more disappointed that they even created the thing).

This is definitely a thriller, a drama mixed with romance, slightly raunchy at times and much more.  So if you like Stephen King books and a bit of 50 shades then this is without a doubt one of the best books you will ever add to your collection.

I definitely believe that SJ Watson is now one of my favourite authors and can't wait for what is on the horizon, i'm counting down the months, weeks, days and hours!

If you like this book I recommend the following books:

- 'Her' - by Harriet Lane
- 'Gone Girl' - by Gillian Flynn
- 'The Girl on The Train' - Paula Hawkins
